Textiles and Sewing of faces!!
I decided to take out my sewing machine during the Christmas and create faces with old cushions, zips, buttons, old materials etc, I found this good fun! I mostly used the zig-zag method as I felt it created a better effect than just straight stitching as the colour of the thread appeared more clearer
Close up of the nose and eye!
Close up of zigzag stitching!

Like the saying about zipping your mouth shut I places an old zip around the corner of the mouth!!

I used buttons for the eyes!

The back of the face piece!!!
This is the back of the piece you just seen, I didn't tidy up the thread as I actually felt at the end of this that it was more visually exciting as you could still see the face appearing through the thread!!!

These are just some close ups of the piece, and you can see how much times I zigzag the same piece to create a really thick effect of the thread and the messy uncut thread!!

    This was another textile piece!

Im not sur if I really like this or notn my idea was to create this piece as as one of the people with glean film over there faces but I don't think it worked out as I planned but it was still a fun experiment to play with!!
Again more close ups!! I only mostly sewed over the thread once or twice in this piece!!
Was trying to create closed eyes with zips!!
Close your eye close the zip!!

                                             The effect behind the piece!!

Like my last piece I also liked tyhe back of the piece, I liked the way in this one I had a few different colour threads which I felt made it more interesting than just one colour!!
Close ups of the piece!! mouth!

These were some experiments I made using my sewing machine of a roll of canvas than i got inn lidl years ago and only now have got around to using it!! they are just plane enough simple faces trying to get the feel of the sewing machine again as hadn't used It in a while!!
